My year in office as the President commenced with the induction ceremony on the 30th of January and I take this opportunity to thank all members of the SLCOG for electing me to this high office. I feel privileged and honoured to have been elected uncontested and being fully aware of the commitment that I have to make I wish to assure you that I will give nothing short of my very best.
We have just completed what I believe was an excellent year during which, under the dynamic leadership of Professor Malik Gunawardena, the council for the year 2009 reached great heights.
The coming year will again be very challenging and I call upon all of the members to co-operate with and assist the council to meet the challenges with courage, confidence and equanimity. Remember – “United we stand and divided we fall”.
The office bearers have already planned their respective activities for the forthcoming year and I invite all members to take part in and contribute in whatever manner they can in those activities and thereby make it possible to elevate our College to further heights. In this context I also wish to appeal to all of you to make every effort to support the council this year to rejuvenate the College building project and to move forward towards it’s completion.
In my address at the induction ceremony I outlined our plans for the year. One of those was the publication of regular News Letters. I congratulate the Editor on achieving the first publication within such a short period and join him in inviting all of you to send in useful and interesting literary and or scientific contributions for inclusion in future Newsletters.
